Economic Development Advisor – Precinct Activation

About the position
– Support the General Manager in the implementation of economic development, industry development and precinct activation initiatives in accordance with the Economic Development Strategy.
– Contribute to the delivery of tourism and destination marketing outcomes by supporting activation programs that increase visitation, local spend, and regional profile.
– Maintain strong cross-functional relationships with Communications & Engagement, Infrastructure, Community Development, and Customer Relations to enable coordinated and effective precinct activation outcomes.
– Use economic, demographic and visitor spend data to inform the planning, development and evaluation of precinct activation initiatives and programs.
– Plan, coordinate and deliver precinct activation initiatives—including events, programs and temporary installations—that enhance the economic performance and vibrancy of Priors Creek Parklands and other key precincts.
– Support the development and delivery of a year-round precinct activation calendar aligned to economic development and visitation objectives.
– Facilitate and support community groups, businesses, and stakeholders to participate in precinct activation, including navigating Council approvals and processes.
– Coordinate operational delivery of activation initiatives, including site planning, scheduling, contractor engagement, procurement, and compliance documentation.
– Monitor and report on activation outcomes, including attendance, participation, stakeholder feedback, and economic impact measures, to inform continuous improvement and decision-making.
– Maintain accurate records of activation activities, including run sheets, risk assessments, WHS documentation, and procurement records.
– Work collaboratively with the Communications team to deliver targeted promotion of activation initiatives to maximise participation and economic impact.
– Ensure all activation activities comply with WHS legislation, Council policies, and risk management requirements.
– Build and maintain positive relationships with businesses, sponsors, contractors, performers, and participants to support successful activation outcomes.
– Provide on-ground coordination during activation delivery, including issue resolution and escalation as required.
– Support post-activation evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement processes.
– Assist in the development and implementation of sponsorship and partnership opportunities that enhance the financial sustainability and impact of precinct activation initiatives.
Who we are looking for
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
1. Experience coordinating public events, activations, or programs in a community, tourism, or local government setting.
2. Sound understanding of precinct activation, event logistics, risk management, WHS, and compliance requirements.
3. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate across internal teams, external contractors and service providers, consultants, community groups and retail and industry groups.
4. Organisation and task management skills, including the ability to work under time pressure and manage multiple activities.
5. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records, including activation documentation and evaluation reports.
