About the position

• Assist with the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of water supply and wastewater reticulation systems, pump stations, reservoirs, pipelines, and associated assets to ensure infrastructure remains operational and service disruptions are minimised.
• Assist with carrying out excavation, installation, replacement, and repair of water mains, sewer mains, valves, hydrants, manholes, and service connections utilizing hand tools, power tools, and plant equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of water and wastewater assets to identify faults or defects, collect operational data, and report maintenance requirements to supervisors for proactive maintenance.
• Prepare and submit accurate monthly SWIM reports to ensure compliance with legislative reporting obligations and maintain reliable operational records.
• Assist team members responding to customer service requests such as water leaks, sewer blockages, and service interruptions, ensuring a prompt response and a high standard of customer service.
• Work collaboratively with team members to deliver reliable water and wastewater services while protecting public health, customer wellbeing, and the environment.

1. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with supervisors and team members.
2. Physical ability to safely undertake manual handling tasks, general labouring duties, and the operation of tools and equipment.
3. Ability to prioritise daily tasks, solve routine practical problems, and work independently when required with high attention to detail. 4. Competency in utilising tablets and mobile technology to complete electronic forms, log data, or capture operational information.
5. Awareness of safe work practices, including manual handling techniques, alongside a strong commitment to following workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
