About the position

  • Consult with stakeholders to identify fleet and plant requirements and support the procurement of fit-for purpose assets. Coordinate the procurement, commissioning, allocation, acquisition and disposal of fleet and plant assets in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
  • Monitor fleet and plant utilisation and provide recommendations to optimise asset performance, allocation and replacement planning.
  • Coordinate servicing, maintenance, warranty claims and inspection programs to maximise asset availability and ensure legislative compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records in Fleet management software relating to fleet assets, including registrations, inspections, vehicle incidents, infringements and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and liaise with suppliers, contractors and service providers to ensure the delivery of quality and cost-effective fleet services.
  • Develop, oversee and coordinate the accurate delivery of the prequalified tender specification for external plant allocations.
  • Engage, report on and monitor prequalified tender supplier in accordance with specification and TRC procurement policy.
  • Ensure fleet and plant operations are conducted in accordance with relevant legislation, safety requirements, standards and Council policies.
  • Prepare and analyse fleet utilisation data, performance metrics and cost reports to support operational and strategic decision-making. Apply whole-of-life costing principles to support improved asset lifecycle management, replacement planning and plant hire rate calculations.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of fleet management policies, procedures and asset and maintenance management practices.

Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  1. Demonstrated experience in fleet, plant, logistics, workshop or asset management operations, including the coordination, utilisation and maintenance of fleet and plant assets.
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop technical specifications and support procurement, contract administration or supplier management activities relating to fleet, plant or equipment.
  3. Demonstrated ability to analyse operational data, prepare reports and utilise fleet management systems, databases and advanced spreadsheet applications to support decision-making.
  4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, suppliers and contractors.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, exercise initiative and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and safety requirements.
